Building Blast Protection

Building Blast Protection

Why have Building Blast Protection?

Protecting building structures from catastrophic failure caused by blast usually starts with intelligence, surveillance and access control. However comprehensive these strategies are they can be compromised by location and the everyday requirements of the building. Passive physical protection provides that additional assurance that if other systems fail, there remains alevel of protection that will mitigate blast and reduce the risk of catastrophic building failure.

Aigis's TABREShield™ Building Protection System provides physical protection for strategic structures and key installations. TABREshield’s™ thin section, lightweight non-structural cladding provides the solution where massive, heavy structures, such as concrete blast walls or extensive and complex reinforcement of building are either impractical or untenable.
TABREShield™ Blast Protection dramatically reduces over pressure and reflected shock waves thereby limiting progressive blast effect, ultimately preventing catastrophic failure of the building structure. Integrating directly with the building structure, TABREshield’s thin footprint ensures even retrofit applications do not adversely affect floor space, account for wall mounted utilities and present a discreet upgrade in protection.
The flexibility in design that TABREshield™ offers allows its application to most building structure types, be it a simple temporary cabin or masonry constructed and larger column and beam type buildings. The mounting system for TABREshield™ is matched to the building type to enhance performance, improve integration and maximise the structural capabilities of the existing building. This flexibility also allows the protection to be placed where the threat of catastrophic failure is greatest; for columns, support walls or lightweight separation walls to key strategic installations (computer rooms, power distribution, safe havens etc).

Where either aesthetic appeal or discreet integration is required TABREShield™ materials can be tailored in colour, texture and shape to meet client expectations.

Specifically designed with explosives and pyrotechnics manufacturers in mind, Aigis’s internal blast and ballistic partitioning systems are based on floor mounted modular constructions that can be easily tailored to suit client’s requirements. These requirements are often threat specific, but the design of the system allows for flexibility in the multi-layered components to suit a vast variety of threats. Practicality and functionality of these partitioning modules can be suited to the client’s needs, incorporating hatches, windows, opening and closing transfer hatches etc.

The modular approach to the design allows for greater flexibility whilst maintaining the use of more standardised components to keep costs down. Pre-fabricated modules can be quickly and easily installed with minimal disruption and down time for the client. The structures can be used for permanent installations or more temporary solutions which allows for expansion or new layouts within the production facility.

The final customisable solution enables the client to provide safer working environments for its employees, improved protection of capital equipment and existing structures, all by containing and reducing the threats effects.
