UN1.4S Hazard Classification Revalidation

May 2011 - Revalidation of Aigis DCU500 Series under UN1.4S Hazard Classification.
A new Special Provision for the transport of detonators came into UK legislation on the 1st January 2011 requiring our Detonator Container Unit DCU500 Series to be tested to the new UN6D Unconfined Packaging Test. The main criterion for this test was that no blast effects capable of igniting an 80gsm piece of paper outside the units at 25cm should occur. Although fully confident of meeting this capability requirement, it was necessary for the tests to be conducted to maintain the DCU's UN1.4S Hazard Classification.
The DCU's passed with flying colours, showing on high speed video, no dangerous or potentially injurious effects outside the unit in the event of a detonation inside the unit. The test evidence has been passed to the Health & Safety Executive for re-issuance of the DCU's Hazard Classification documents.
