Aigis UN 1.4S certified Det Box protects Army / EOD
September 2006 – Armed Forces International
Safely store and transport your detonators with AIGIS Detonators Containment Units.
Currently used by demining companies, Army/NATO in Iraq, Afghanistan and Bosnia, the AIGIS Detonator Containment Unit has applications in demolition, quarrying, mining, construction, EOD, Bomb Disposal and IEDD.
Much like the rest of AIGIS’s well-established solutions, the Detonator Containment Unit uses the innovative blast protective technology: AIGIS TABREshield. This unique patented materials system has the property to absorb the energy produced by an explosive blast and to minimise the lethal effects of overpressure, outperforming conventional protection methods in terms of practicality, weight, and blast performance.
AIGIS’s Detonator Containment Unit not only contains the explosive blast thereby protecting personnel when carried by hand, it also prevents sympathetic detonation, thus enabling both electric and non-electric detonators to be carried together.
AIGIS D.C.U. also enables the safe storage and transport of detonators in the same vehicle as explosives, which saves logistical burdens and significantly reduces transport costs.
AIGIS’s Detonator Containment Unit comes in various formats to suit most standard types of detonators, including variants which house 1, 8, and 18 detonators. Each DCU is EU compliant and has full certification with a UN packaging number and a 1.4S Hazard Classification.
