AIGIS Threat Containment Units: how airports can avoid evacuations when a baggage/luggage is detected as unidentified.
AIGIS Blast Protection Ltd, world leader in blast protection, helps Airports protect their passengers, staff and assets against the potential explosive threat from an unidentified hold or hand baggage which requires containment and removal for further EOD (Explosives Ordnance Disposal) evaluation.
AIGIS, in consultation with EOD, IEDD (Improvised Explosive Device Disposal) and Airports, have designed their Threat Containment Units to be safe, practical and easy to use. They help avoid evacuations by containing the suspect baggage and thus protecting from potential explosions. In addition, they offer mobility for removal from the terminal to a location where safe and un-pressured EOD / IEDD investigation can be carried out.
Used in major airports worldwide, the range includes the IU2000, which caters for the largest hold baggage, and the IU1200, which more than accommodates the IATA maximum size hand baggage.
Protecting people and business continuity are at the heart of AIGIS Bomb Containment
AIGIS Threat Containment Units enable the airport to act immediately, often avoiding the need to carry out operating procedures such as ICE (Isolate, Cordon and Evacuate), thus enabling the Airport to continue operating rather than face costly and disruptive evacuations.
Recently, a major US airport was closed for several hours at a cost of an estimated $3.5 million, due to the evacuation of passengers and airport staff, leading to missed flights, the need to replace out-of-hours aircrew, and the diversion and cancellation of many other flights.
AIGIS Threat Containment Units can quickly recoup their capital costs and thus justify the investment, when compared to the cost of terminal evacuation, with its serious financial and PR consequences. More than 50 airports worldwide now have had Aigis units supplied by the company.
The outstanding performance of AIGIS Isolation Units is guaranteed by its unique blast absorption TABREShield technology
All Aigis Products use the unique patented TABREshield technology which absorbs explosive blast, thus reducing the explosive event, minimising the hazard to people and assets.
The TABREshield technology can also be used to provide external and internal building protection, including sensitive terminal infrastructure, and blast protected rooms for baggage reconciliation.
